Denim, Just Can’t Have Enough of It!

I love denim, but I only stick to jeans. I have quite a number of pairs of jeans, but I think I have to throw some away. I can’t fit into some of my skinny jeans anymore, and I look pretty “big” in them. I know that I can just treat them as tights, but I don’t feel comfortable wearing them for long hours where my leg movement is restricted. :P

Nonetheless, I will keep my straight cut jeans for as long as I can, and I’m glad that I found out how to wear our old jeans this season without looking like an old woman!

1719805879.jpg

The most important tip I learned from Kevin Zhou, one of the famous fashion stylist and makeup artist in Taiwan, is to roll or fold up your jeans and expose your ankles. It can be straight cuts or skinny jeans, but just roll them up until you can expose the thinest part of your legs. Of course, you must have a pair of nice shoes to go with the look. Even if you are a pair of north face walking shoes, you still won’t go wrong with the look. However, please don’t match your jeans with a denim jacket or any denim top as you will look awfully weird as most denim hardly match, unless you buy them in pairs.

Denim is not only for younger generation, even mothers can look great in denim. Check out this look:

I know Makiyo looked hot in the denim shorts, but not every woman my age has that pair of legs! But Kevin did a good job in helping Makiyo’s mother in creating a denim look for older women. Denim skirt is another option, and if it’s in darker color, it won’t look like “we” are trying to act younger than our age. :P

Shopping for Mother’s Day

I’ve almost forgotten about Mother’s Day as over here in Thailand, they don’t celebrate Mother’s Day in May. But I will still give my mom a call on this special day, and hopefully she won’t mind that I won’t be there again to celebrate this special day with her. Staying in another country away from my family would mean that we don’t get to celebrate most of the special days together, but that does not mean that I care less about them.

So, maybe I will buy her something special when I plan to fly back again. My mom broke her necklace some time ago, and I don’t think she has bought herself a new one.

Coincidentally, I found out about Gemz N Gold, and  I found this nice necklace which is simple yet elegant.

l_3858.jpg

I think my mom might like this, and most importantly, this necklace and pendant are not expensive at all.  Furthermore, there is a special Mother’s Day offer which you will be given a red jewelry box free, if you make any purchase at this store. This offer only valid until 11 May 2009, so if you are interested to get one, please check out the store.

I think I better give my mom a cal tonight and see if she likes this necklace. She’s very picky, and she has always told me not to buy her any present but give her cash instead. LOL!

If Money Is Not A Concern…

I’m trying my best not to spend a lot lately, and so far, I’ve been doing pretty well. I managed to find other cheaper alternatives, and I stay away from designer brands for quite some time. With the current economy meltdown getting bad to worse, I would prefer not to overspend and keep the money away for rainy days.

But then again, if I have the money, and if I want to spoil myself…. I might get these items….

Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

The market is really bad, and I try my best not to shop like I used to be. Thus, it’s more like window shopping these days when I go to Siam Paragon. The other day, I made a trip to Gayson  in Bangkok city and I saw a nice Dior Cherie Cannage, in PINK! But I didn’t walk into the store because I know that I should not get anything expensive! I felt a pinch in my heart for not being able to have that bag, but then I was proud of myself for not spending a dime on an expensive handbag. So, are you controling your spending too?

But then again, it’s always harmless looking at these nice collection of designer clothes. I found that Marc Jacobs did a great jon for Louis Vuitton again, with the eighties touch of their Fall 2009 collection.

Jantzen

It’s summer here. In Thailand, there is only 2 significant seasons, let it be hot or windy and cool during winter. But winter only lasts for more than a month, so it’s always summer and sunny most of the time.

We are having a short holiday next month, in celebration of Songkran, when the Thai people celebrate their new year. It’s a water splashing event and at some places, you can see people “pouring” water on you, as a sign of blessing. I celebrated Songkran here once in Khao San, and I tell you, it’s like getting wet wet wet the whole day!!! A nice bikini beneath your tee and shorts will be perfect for this celebration. Some Thai people are pretty conservative, so you can’t walk on the streets with just bikinis. I guess you can do so in Pattaya, Phuket or other beach areas, but not in the city.

So, if we are going downtown for this celebration, I want to have something beneath that’s nice, and not too revealing. Coincidentally, I came across the newsletter by Robinson, and Jantzen swim wears were featured this time.

I checked out Jantzen’s website and I quite like their 2009 collection. I might drop by Robinson later, and see if I can find this piece of swim suit…

I wonder if it fits me well?

Lyn Shoes, by Lynderella

untitled-2.jpg

I love shoes, but I don’t buy a lot lately. There are a few stores which I like to get my shoes from, since I moved to Bangkok, and Lyn is one of my favorite brands. The shoes are lady and trendy, and most importantly, they go well with my outfits. However, not all the shoes are designed for comfort walking, so that’s the disadvantage of it. Luckily, I only wear the shoes when I’m out as we don’t wear shoes in the office. Besides that, I have a pair of flats in the car which I use to walk around in the office building. Bear in mind that I have to climb to the 4th floor to reach my office everyday, so a nice pair of heels might kill my back!

But then again, I don’t really like to wear flats to work. They just don’t go along with my skirts and dresses. I feel like I’m trying to act like a school girl by going out with flats. LOL! Nonetheless, for normal days when we go for outings and shopping, a nice pair of flats are very comfortable for walking. I quite like this pair of Sienna Mary Jane by keen shoes, which I found online. However, for the same price of money, I still prefer to get another pair of shoes by Lyn.

untitled-4.jpg

Those are the colors I want to add in my shoe rack! If only I can still fit a few more pairs in. Sigh… I need a bigger shoe rack…all for myself!

Oscar 2009 Red Carpet

Again, I don’t pay much attention on the awards but I just like to see who are among the best dressed.

I like white, but not everyone looks good in white. It might be the skin color, or the expanding effect of white, which makes us look bigger than we are. Nonetheless, I’m surprised to see how stunning Anne Hathaway was, in her white dress.

25m.jpg
Anne Hathaway wore a white dress by Armani Privé with Cartier jewels. Isn’t she stunning? And I’ve never known that she’s so skinny.

Since not all of us can be as skinny as Anne, maybe we can try something like this…

Jessica Biel, in Prada and jewels by Louis Vuitton jewels

I think this white dress can hide my flaws. LOL!

I missed the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards, but then, I’m glad that I managed to get a glimpsed of what did the celebrities wore on red carpet from Style.com. To me, it’s more excited seeing how these gorgeous ladies dress than seeing who gets the awards! LOL!

Here are some of my favorite looks at the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards:

Less is More, Bare for Spring 2009

I’m not the type of women with gorgeous long legs, so I can only admire those pretty skinny girls showing off their long legs in the latest trend for Spring 2009. It seems like less is more, and the shorts are more like underwear. Do dress properly for your tops, so that you won’t look totally slutty!

Check out the looks…

Jaspal Collection From Thailand

I’ve never heard of Jaspal before I moved to Bangkok. But since my first visit to Jaspal many months ago, I began to fall in love with their collections of clothes, which totally suit my look. I like colorful dress, and most importantly, the designs hide my flaws. LOL!

A few of my friends have commented that I looked different, or somehow younger now. I think it’s not because of my look, but the way I dress. Jaspal has a wide range of clothes which flatter my look and makes me look younger.

collection_ov_jessica.gif

I dropped by Jaspal twice this week, just to check out the latest Autumn/Winter collection 2008. The clothes are more like English country life with checks and tartans. I like those in darker colors, and in lighter materials. That explains why I shopped twice at Jaspal in just a week!

about_image1.png

There are some jackets and trench coats too, but they are not as thick as those north face jackets. Nonetheless, they are good enough for Bangkok’s weather, which is not too cold in winter.

Jaspal is originated in Thailand, but there are stores in Kuala Lumpur too. If I’m not mistaken, there are outlets at Pavillion and One Utama. Another new outlet is coming soon in Midvalley, as written in their latest catalog. Besides women’s clothes, Jaspal offers nice designs for men as well. So, do check it out.
